The screen time dilemma with young children

Screen time for kids aged 7 to 11 can be a tricky subject. While it’s important to limit the amount of time kids spend in front of screens, it’s also important to recognize that technology can be a great learning tool. So, how much screen time is good for kids in this age group?

The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends that children aged 7 to 11 should have no more than two hours of screen time per day. This includes time spent on computers, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic devices. This recommendation is for recreational screen time only. Educational screen time, such as using a computer to do research for a school project, does not count towards the two-hour limit.

It’s essential to try balance screen time and that it should never replace physical activity or social interaction. Kids must still be encouraged to get outside and play, and to spend time with friends and family.
